Hi! We’re the Bidgee Dragons!

We are a dragonboat club based in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, Australia. You might think we paddle on the Murrumbidgee River that flows through our hometown - the body of water we’re named after. However, we actually spend most of our time on the lovely Lake Albert, where we have a permanent boatshed.

The safety of our members and community is very important to the Bidgee Dragons. For example, this means paddlers either complete an annual swim test or wear life jackets while on the water. During pandemic conditions, we actively support checking in and additional cleaning. We also have our COVID Safety Plan available.

Our members (both men and women) have a passion for community spirit, physical health and mental wellbeing. We have about twenty-five regular paddlers and a number of social members and are always looking to add to our ranks. Anyone 10+yrs is eligible to participate under Dragon Boat New South Wales rules.

One of the easiest ways to paddle is to sign up for one of our ‘Come and Try’ community sessions. Attending one of these sessions will give you a better idea of expectations (let us give you a hint: you don’t need amazing fitness. We will help you build your core strength and tone your arms!). For more information check out Paddling together/Community Sessions.
