Vogalonga is a 35km non-competitive, non motorised craft event in Venice, usually held in mid May to celebrate the lagoon and protest against motorboat wakes. It is open to all non-motorisee vessels, starting at Saint Mark's Basin and ending at the Basiloica della Salute. About 2000 craft and 8000-10000 people participate,

This is an EOI for the event. Please answer now and confirm later. As you can image, it is a huge undertaking to organise this opportunity  for Bidgee Dragons. We need to get an idea of numbers and you need to get planning. Geelong DBC has already put out a call for paddlers for 2027. 

Look up Vogalonga to get a sense of what it is about. It really is quite indescribable.

In 2018, 15 Bidgee Dragons, plus 7 from Derwent Storm (Tas) went to Venice, Italy to participate. I organised accommodation for the group of 35 in different Italian villas for set dates and travel was up to the individual.

We need to get in early, immediately following this year's event, and book a boat from the Venice Dragon Boat Club.

So, look into it, save your money and plan to go to Venice in May 2027. The date posted is approximate at this stage.

It is one of the oarsome (sic) events in which you could participate. Seats will be allocated in the order of reply.
