DBNSW recommends that all members undertake the annual swim assessment. The accreditation has expired for some members and need to be renewed. All new members should also undertake the assessment.

With the swim accreditaiton, paddlers over the age of 18 years are exempt from wearing a PFD if allowed in their state. (Victoria and Tasmania require everyone to wear a PFD, regardless). Otherwise a PFD must be worn at regattas and training. Sweeps and drummers must always wear a PFD (AusDBF requirement). Bidgee Dragons offer opportunities to undertake the supervised assessment each Febtruary and September.
